It is our goal to help our patient maintain and care for their natural teeth for their entire lives; however, situations sometimes arise that necessitate tooth removal.
Below is a patient who had a chronic toothache for many years. After being presented with the treatment options, this patient chose to have her tooth extracted.
Many patients often ask what infection looks like…this is a perfect example. The presence of infection can be seen above the tooth (on the gums), on the radiograph (as a dark shadow around the root) and after the tooth was removed (as a pocket of ‘pus’) at the tip of the root.
